Some like it wet when it comes to IPA’s or Pale Ales that use fresh hops that are added sometimes within hours after picking. These beers are sometimes called Harvest Ales or Fresh Hopped Ales.
Wet hopped beers are more difficult to brew because of the time sensitivity of the fresh hops from the vine to the boil. Most beers are brewed with dry hops or pellets that can be stored for longer periods of time.
Most wet hopped beers are available in the early fall and if you can find them the best time to drink them are ASAP so you can experience the great flavors that the fresh hops bring to those brews.
If you want to try a wet hopped beer I made a list of some of my favorites ( Click on the beer name to see the full review). So check them out and if you’re a hop head like me and taste the difference a fresh hop makes. So go out and get it while it’s fresh! Prost!
